News and Events2009 CoursesCourse information for the first half of 2009 is now available on the website so have a browse as we're sure to have something for everyone.Christmas ClosureOur office closes on December 19th and will re-open on January 12th.Community Access GrantsParents Returning to Earning $1000 Grants Now AvailableThe Community Access Grants will support parents to return to work who: • Have been absent from education, training and/or the workforce for over two years while caring for children; and • Are Indigenous; and/or • Are sole parents; and/or • Come from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds particularly recently arrived migrants; and/or • Are young and have left school early to care for their children; and/or • Are returning to the workforce after extended absence such as mature aged women; and/or • Have a disability; and/or •Are homeless; and/or • Live in areas of high unemployment or are drought affected. 1. English language training excepted 2. For the purposes of the Returning to Earning program, 'unemployed' is deemed to include paid employment for less than 6.5 hours per week. 3. Temporary Protection Visa (TPV) holders are deemed as eligible residents. We have had parents successfully complete training courses in hospitality, computing, book keeping, first aid, Certificate IV in Training & Assessment, reception & office administration, public speaking, event management, medical terminology, business writing & more. We can also assist you with job search techniques, study skills, resume advice, interview preparation, mentoring and other support. Returning to Earning ProgramThis program will have more grants available early in 2009. This program is funded by the state government and allows eligible parents to access $1000 worth of training to assist them in returning to the workforce. Popular courses include computer training, Certificate IV in Training & Assessment, Certificate IV in Business (Frontline Management), book keeping, first aid, assertiveness skills and the Integration Aide course which is run by Monash University's Education faculty. Check the Returning to Earning website for eligibility and application details.Kids Holiday CoursesJanuary 2009- This is a busy time of year, with lots of families away on holidays so only a few children's classes will be offered. Please enrol early so you don't miss out!!
